About Ruhi

I’m a massage therapist with 20+ years of experience (based in South London) with an avid interest in the holistic side of life, specifically looking into natural health alternatives found in nature, not in the bottom of a pharmacy bottle.

Massage

It was after I gave birth to my daughter that I looked into alternative medicine. It became increasingly obvious to me that while doctors have their place in the world, they seem to focus on singular symptoms instead of the body as a whole, sometimes subjecting a person to more side effects than necessary.

Massage was my eye-opener into this. The act of physically soothing the body, especially during pregnancy when I couldn’t take certain painkillers, brought me closer to natural healing. I started my massage journey when I resided in America and studied Swedish massage and further specialties like Cranial Sacral and Pregnancy Massage in the San Francisco School of Massage in California, USA. The best school for massage in the whole of California. Now I am a full member of the Federation of Holistic Therapies (FHT), the largest recognised body for alternative therapies in England, meaning your treatments can be covered by many health insurances.

Reiki

At my massage classes, I was introduced to reiki by chance as a couple of my teachers were Reiki Masters . But it was only after returning to England that I started learning  about Reiki.

Reiki triggers internal healing in your own body where it is needed and is widely accepted and even used for cancer patients in the NHS. Reiki is completely safe and there are no contraindications at all. So safe to do it is even beneficial to practice  on your children and pets! Being able to provide some ease and comfort to our dependents when they can’t communicate their needs to us is also very comforting.

In the initial days while studying I had quite a profound experience which I will always cherish, when I performed it on my own mother when she had cancer. Getting pain relief was very difficult for her, and feeling helpless at this, I tried it on her. The peace she was able to receive meant the world to me, gifting me with invaluable joy and relief. It solidified my goal to become a Reiki Master, which I have now achieved! As a practicing Muslim I prefer the traditional route so do not incorporate the use of crystals or anything else in my personal practice and I have 10+ years of experience.

From hobby to bridal henna

In my childhood, putting henna on myself and others in times of celebration was the start of an artistic passion that only grew over the years. Even before cones, I used a paste and toothpick to make designs! When I decided to do it professionally I trained to add it to my business over 10 years ago and enjoyed the experiences of working in pop up stalls and henna parties. Since I was a teenager, I I have always loved and dreamed of learning from the man who made his name as the first Guinness Record  Book Holder for being the fastest Henna Artist in the world, Ash Kumar! I was always in awe of his style and then during the lockdown in Covid my dream was realised! I had not only the opportunity to retrain with Ash Kumar himself, but he also mentored me too! A better teacher you could not find! I am now certified and do Bridal Henna alongside anything ranging from henna parties and corporate occasions to jagua temporary tattoos and belly blessings.

When it comes to henna, I’m passionate about endorsing and using only natural ingredients as opposed to the ones on the shelves of shops with added harmful chemicals giving henna a bad name.. They carry serious health risks, and I hope that by spreading awareness to all my potential clients and followers, they can start to choose the natural cones available from many sources nation and worldwide. I have also started to provide my own henna cones which are available nationwide. Remember henna is perishable so if its organic and natural it will need to be stored in the fridge or freezer, so if its on a shelf of a shop at room temperature, no matter what it says on the packet, it will have chemicals in it.

My mission

I often get asked why I have combined these three seemingly different paths in my business. To me they compliment each other perfectly in my Mission Statement: ‘Melt away tensions, Awaken your spirit, Rediscover your beauty,’ (Massage, Reiki, Henna, respectively).

My goal is to support women and help them shine in all their brilliance. Often day to day life and stresses can bring us down and juggling too many roles and responsibilities can make us forget our peace, beauty and happiness. So I want to be in service to women, as we are the cornerstones of all our societies and help us heal, reset and remind us of our feminine strengths and power.
